Have Missing One or More Teeth? Ask Calgary Dental Clinic About Dental Implants

A dental implant is a surgical procedure used to replace missing teeth. A dental implant is designed to not just be functional, but it also serves a cosmetic purpose. Implants restore smiles, and seamlessly blend in with the appearance of your other teeth.

Implants are a long-term, permanent solution to the issue of missing teeth.

The Advantages of Dental Implants

As mentioned above, dental implants are a permanent solution if you’re missing one, or more than one tooth.

  • When you receive a dental implant from Calgary Dental Clinics, not only can you feel confident about the look of your smile, but you can also eat and drink without a hindrance.
  • Not only do dental implants restore the look of your teeth and smile, but they’re also incredibly natural because they’re specifically designed to preserve the shape and unique contours of your face. In fact, aside from your real teeth, dental implants are the most natural option you have to replace missing teeth.
  • Dental implants are an alternative to other dental procedures like crowns and bridges, and they’re going to last longer than these options and provide you with a better value over the long-term. For example, a dental bridge, even when well-maintained, is only going to last about ten years, at a maximum, while a dental implant may need periodic adjustments, but can easily last for a lifetime.
  • With dental implants, you can remain relaxed and comfortable in your day-to-day life because you don’t have the anxiety of having it become loose or fall out of your mouth, and you also don’t have to worry the people around you will notice.

The Dental Implant Process

Typically, placing a dental implant is going to require you to undergo a two-part procedure.

During the first procedure your implant(s) will be placed in your jaw bone, and then after a period of three to six months, the implants will gradually bond to the bone.

During these initial months, you’ll likely wear dentures, and you may have a restricted diet of soft foods, in order to ensure your implants are kept intact. Also during this time, your dentist will be working on the creation of your replacement teeth.

Once your implant has bonded to your jawbone, you’ll begin the second phase of the procedure, in which anchors will be placed in your gums. Finally, your artificial teeth will be placed.

While the entire process should take anywhere from six to eight months, you won’t notice much of a disruption of your daily life or routine, and the end result will be a long-lasting, completely functional and beautiful smile.
